Community Outreach Program in Manchester and Outlying Areas
Hi I’m Paul Exall a ceramic artist living and working in Manchester - I have been developing my art work and teaching methods for the past 23 years through various mediums and activities. Most recently, I have been running community workshops at various locations in Manchester and Trafford, including the mental well being social enterprise, BlueSCI.
Next year I will run the Winds of Change project across Greater Manchester. The aim of the project is to increase the sense of involvement in and ownership of local communal green spaces through the expression of ceramic art. Additionally, by bringing together a diverse range of groups to produce art work for the project, I attempt to break down existing barriers, create friendships and strengthen bonds between social groups that would not normally interact.
Their work is then to be installed in parks local to the participating groups, inviting them to connect with their environment and encouraging local wildlife. All participants will then be asked to attend a final event in the park in order to view their work, reunite with the other groups involved and reflect on the core themes of the project, namely peace, harmony and unity with nature. Lastly, each group will be presented with a plaque bearing a well wishing message from another of the groups.
If you feel the program would be of interest to any of the groups you work with, please send me an email (paul@spiralearthceramics.co.uk) including the following information.
- How many groups would you like to take part?
- How many people in each group?
- What times/days would the group be available? (Workshop duration = 3 hours)
- Do your groups have any special needs and what age ranges will be attending?
- Do you have space in your centre or building to hold the workshop?
If you require any further information please feel free to contact me on or email paul@spiralearthceramics.co.uk..
